Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine has a unique style that blends R&B with soul, gospel music and R&B. Avery Sunshine's performances have been on Broadway and in festivals throughout Europe. She has also performed at her appearance at the Democratic National Convention. Her real name is Denise White. She is originally from Chester Pennsylvania, where she started her musical career by playing the piano and singing in church. Her music career started in Atlanta while attending Spellman College. In 2005 she took on the role of the keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer) was approached for an opportunity to be the director of the choral section of Dreamgirls in Atlanta in the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine gained national recognition during her four daily performances in 2008 at the Democratic National Convention. She was invited to perform at President Barack Obama's inaugural in 2009.
